Trust & Disaster

Last time I posted, I informed you that I would be meeting with the show's producer about some issues I was having with how the show is being run. In talking to him I informed him that I believed he should take more control over how certain aspects were being handled, and that all final decisions should go through him since this all has been his vision. Things seemed to go well, I believed him to be in agreement, and I walked away believing he was going to step up and take control again. Boy was I wrong...

Turns out that the problems run deeper than I knew. People are not getting along, and certain people are suffering from a serious power craving. The head producer emailed me the day after the meeting and stated that he was resigning from the show. Yes, resigning!! Don't ask me how the original producer and vision-air can resign because I have no idea how! Yes, it is crazy. Apparently there are some major trust issues going on in the show's production. The show is supposed to be continuing on with another producer in charge. However, I spoke to one of the producers, and they stated they would not be doing the show without the original producer. I also am most likely not going to do the show without him. The person who has been put in charge has been the one causing difficulties, and I will not have my image and name tarnished because of their power issues.

I am highly upset and disappointed right now. I believe the original producer should continue with the show. It was his dream, and he was very passionate about it, and it would be such a waste if he quit because of someone with a power hungry diva complex.

I'm going to try to talk him into continuing being the show's producer. He deserves this, and he's put to much work in it to watch it turn into a mockery of his original vision.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Wish us the best in taking back the show!!

Power Issues & Starting a Business

Hey Everyone!

Alright, it's been a few days since I posted so here is what has been going on...

Last Thursday I attended the Starting a Business Seminar with my local Small Business Development Center. The seminar was very informative and covered all the general areas of starting a business, including writing a business plan, taxes, types of business entities etc. Overall it was a bit overwhelming, so much stuff to learn and figure out!! Thankfully the center offers more specific seminars and one on one counseling. I'm definitely going to need help with trademarking and branding, as well as, taxation, permits, and the legal process. They did give a CD with more information on it; I have yet to go through it.

Tomorrow I will be meeting with Tim, my friend that is heading the fashion show, about some questions/issues I have with the way the show is heading. Apparently the benefactor has been changed, and I am not to happy with that. Originally Tim was very enthusiastic about raising money for the American Cancer Society due the effect cancer has had in his own personal life. However, now I believe that too much power has been given to others working on the show. I would really like the show to be in support of his original dream. So we'll see how the meeting goes tomorrow. Pray it goes well!

Lastly, I received a new serger as a gift. Yay!! I will be experimenting with it in the next few weeks, and it better work well!!! lol I am so excited to have it!

Other than that, I have just been working on show garments and commissioned pieces.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Another Work In Progress

Here's a peek at a garment I'm working on for the fashion show. It's been work, work, work, keeping up with my accessory line, clients, and working on garments for the show. I don't think I even know what sleep is anymore!

Also to remind you, today I will be attending the Starting a Business Seminar with my area's Small Business Development Center. It will be held at the University of West Florida Fort Walton campus. I'll inform everyone on how it goes.

Model Casting Pictures

Here are some pictures from the casting today.

First picture is some of the crew, from left to right: A friend of Jeremy's; Caroline, one of the designers; Jessica, in charge of recruiting models; Tim, the man who started it all, and whose mother we are remembering; and Ashley AKA Cole, my friend/publicist

Second Picture: Jeremy and Tim talking to some of the makeup crew and a couple models

Lack of Models

The second day of casting did not go very well. A smaller amount of people auditioned than we expected. Now another casting is being held in Pensacola, Florida in two weeks. Hopefully, we will have enough. I am worried that there will be a shortage. If a shortage occurs, then the show will not be able to go on. So naturally I am a little stressed and frustrated right now. Looks like I'm going to have to recruit random people on the street. Can this area provide us with enough models? I truly do not know.

Model Casting & Grandma in Stilettos

Yesterday we had the first day of the model casting for the fashion show for the American Cancer Society. Only a very small amount of people auditioned, and now I'm a little worried that we will not have enough models for the show. Looks like we're going to have to scrounge up more some how...GRANDMA!!!! :-P Tomorrow will be a better day, right?

In business news... I am registering to take a Starting a Business seminar at the Small Business Development Center at the University of West Florida. My contact with the center recommended the seminar to me. It cost $35.00, and I'm broke so it better be worth it!! lol

Other than that, I have been working on some garments and accessories for the show. (Will post pictures soon)

Lots of work, and lack of sleep!!! An assistant/intern definitely is needed, and I will be taking on one soon.

Tips for the day:
Girls, when you show up for a model casting, make sure you bring a pair of heels with you and stand up straight, please.
